Your company is sending you to Nice for a few months. Or you are being transferred, and your family will join you later.

You have one goal: to be ready from your first day. This guide follows the order of your departure: what to settle before, the day you arrive, then the first weeks.

If you pay, you sign a *bail mobilité*, a French furnished lease of 1 to 10 months; if your employer pays, the lease is in the company's name: both are explained in the complete guide to the bail mobilité.

02What documents should you prepare?

  • an internship agreement;
  • a certificate of enrolment or of posting;
  • an assignment contract or a transfer letter;
  • an assignment order.

Add your ID and the guarantee you choose.

For a lease in the company's name: the contact details of the organisation that pays and the name of the occupant.

As soon as your assignment order is signed, you can request the date.

03What should you do before arriving in Nice?

Home insurance. The tenant insures the home against tenant's risks. Ask your insurer for a certificate before moving in.

Change of address. The online change-of-details service on service-public.fr notifies several bodies in a single entry, including social security and pension funds. It can be used from 3 months before to 3 months after the move. So you can do it as early as 3 months before you arrive.

Energy and internet. Nothing to do. Electricity, water, air conditioning and fibre internet are already connected and included in the monthly price.

04How does the first day in the home go?

Check-in is self-service: the access code is sent to you before your move-in date. The check-in inventory and the furniture list are drawn up jointly with you when you move in.

That same evening, you have fibre internet to work and linen to sleep.

05How do you get around Nice during an assignment?

From the apartment:

  • Clinique Kantys Centre: 12 min by car;
  • Valrose campus: 13 min by car;
  • CHU Pasteur 2: 15 min by car;
  • airport: 20 min by car;
  • Sophia Antipolis: 28 min by car;
  • bus 60: stop 50 m away, it connects with tram line 2 at Magnan;
  • tram line 2: according to Nice Côte d'Azur airport, it links terminals 1 and 2 to the city centre in under 30 minutes, with a Jean Médecin stop and a Port Lympia stop.

Car times are given outside traffic. A private parking space is included, within the villa's enclosed grounds.

06Can you rent a scooter by the month in Nice?

Nice rental companies mostly show hourly, daily or weekly rates. For a month or more, ask the rental company directly for a quote.

Check your licence before renting. According to service-public.fr, a category B licence lets you ride a light 125 cm³ motorcycle if you have held it for at least 2 years and have completed a 7-hour practical training course.

The private parking space takes your two-wheeler.

07How do you work from the home?

Fibre internet is installed. The second bedroom, of 12.88 m², serves as a study for your video calls.

The two terraces, of 10.58 and 15.75 m², face the Baie des Anges (Bay of Angels). A table for six, under an electric awning, also hosts a working lunch.

08What is the apartment like?

  • 77.51 m² on the 1st floor of a villa, on Bellet hill, west of Nice.
  • Bed linen and towels provided on arrival.
  • A second bedroom for your family if they join you.
  • An island kitchen with induction hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer.
  • A laundry veranda with washing machine and tumble dryer.
  • End-of-stay cleaning included in the monthly price.

09How do you prepare your housing request?

Give your arrival date, the length of the assignment and who pays the rent. If it is your employer, add the company name.

You receive an answer on availability for the arrival date you asked for.
